We have lost three more innocent refugees' souls in Indonesia in the past few days.
Two of them faced unfortunate and tragic death due to medical neglect, and another one had given up living a life without hope and meaning.
When I arrived in Canada, I thought I would give up on refugees in Indonesia as I have not seen any significant changes take place for refugees after reporting on the refugee crisis of Indonesia for the last seven years.
However, today, there is too much going to ignore the situation. Every day, I receive pictures of refugees being attacked by police and security and refugees sewing their lips in protest.
Refugees in Indonesia have been protesting off and on for years. Since last years, the protest has been intensified all over Indonesia as more refugees are taking their own lives.
Over a few years, more than 15 refugees have taken their own lives, and several others have died suffering from mental illness.
Still, the international community hardly hears our voices and cries.
They remained stranded in this indefinite limbo for more than a decade with no fundamental rights to live everyday lives.
It is time we took we take more decisive actions! Refugees in Indonesia need your help. The situation is getting worse day by day.
Raise your voice to find a durable solution for these innocent human beings.
This is real and is happening in this modern era under the watch of humanitarian NGOs.
Indonesia and Australia must amend their refugees' policies devoid of self-interests and design more human and considered ones on humanitarian ground.
Failing this, refugees in Indonesia will continue to be trapped within harsh systems and condemned to slow death by attrition.
